6 Tech Upgrades For Your Business

2 2

We can all find ways to streamline our business in the New Year. Whether it’s speeding up our computers, finding that right app to make our lives easier or finding ways to make better products or services videos.

If you are like us (and we know you are), you are always on the lookout for new gadgets. We did a round up of a few new items and all-time loves for our geeky ladies. Take a look and tell us what gadgets or apps you have used or that are new to you.

Steadicam® Smoothee®1.) Steadicam Smoothee

Have you been taking videos at conferences and meets ups only to discover the video is shaky? That is the worst! Thankfully the Steadicam Smoothee is here to save the day. The Steadicam Smoothee is small and agile enough to take on vacations or follow the action at a conference. Just attach the camera mount to your device and you’re ready to go. This camera allows small businesses to shoot video clips on the go with ease. Think of it as a table-top tripod. Price: $149

UberConference 2.) UberConference

We were very excited when we met the UberConference team at StartUp Grind 2013 this week. They have free and paid versions of their service.

With UberConference, conferencing is a breeze. You can forget the pain of finding and typing in long PINs. Long PINs are a drag, am I right ladies?! Participants can just dial into the conference number and will be automatically authenticated based on their phone number.

Then UberConference brings a whole new visual dimension to audio conference calls. From any computer, anyone in the call can see the names, photos, and other information of the others in the call. The display shows the current speaker, and the organizer has a number of helpful tools to keep the conference running smoothly. Users can record calls, mute participants to get rid of background noise or put “earmuffs” on people they may not want to hear part of the conversation. Price: Free and paid.
Touchfire53.) The Touchfire

Touchfire puts the “touch” back into typing on an iPad. You can now feel where the keys are and rest your fingers on the home row, so you can type as fast and accurately as you can on a laptop.

Touchfire also cushions your fingers as you type, something both touch-typists and two-finger typists really appreciate. Typing on an iPad is no longer a pain. Touchfire is also ultra-thin and weighs less than an ounce. It attaches to the inside of the iPad cover and folds with the cover, so you can always keep Touchfire with your iPad without it getting in the way. I so want one!! Price: $49.95

Evernote Camera Roll 20121114 2230534.) Evernote

We’ve written about Evernote in the past and it’s no secret we are fans! Evernote remembers everything, forever. Whether it’s text, photos, web clippings, voice recordings, documents. You name it, you can store it in Evernote.

iOS users have a snappier and more streamlined app with version 5 on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that gives you all the things you access most in a much more user-friendly design. You can access things the way your you might naturally remember them: by place, tag, or notebook. Of course as always, you can search for anything (even within documents) via the search bar. And now your most recently edited or added notes are right up top on the iPad version. Read more about Evernote and be sure to check it out if you haven’t already. Price: Free and paid.

TaskRabbit5.) TaskRabbit

Have you ever wanted to hand off data entry or buying groceries so that you could get your proposal out the door? I’ve been there many times and as entrepreneurs we always seem to bite off more than we can chew. There is a solution for this. TaskRabbit is an online and mobile marketplace that connects neighbors to get things done. Fully vetted, entrepreneurial professionals contribute their time and skills to helping people out, and those busy people find a little extra time in their days. Neighbors helping neighbors — it’s an old school concept upgraded for today. They call it service networking and it’s changing everything. Price: Varies

RAM6.) Upgrade Your RAM

Now come on ladies, we can all use a faster computer to get our video editing or writing work done sooner. I know you like to have 20+ browser windows open, too! Don’t deny it.

When was the last time you upgraded your RAM? I had to upgrade RAM recently and first went to Best Buy, because I didn’t know where else to go. I was then referred to Mac Sales online and found RAM that I could afford and that would double my computer’s memory.

Having never installed RAM before, I was lucky enough to have a friend refer a YouTube video to me. It was so easy! Don’t be afraid to try it yourself and think of the outcome — a faster computer! Price: Varies

So what new app or gadget have you tried lately? Let us know in the comments below.
