During this time of the year many of us reflect on our goals for the New Year. The list usually includes eating better, writing more for your personal or business blog and losing weight.
I personally have weight loss on my list and I’ve found that it gets tricky finding time to exercise — whether it’s going to the gym or fitting in that hot yoga class to my busy schedule!
I’ve found a super fun solution, that includes tech, to get me on track with my New Year’s weight loss goal and it includes dancing! Yes, dancing my heart out to the latest hit songs and joining a virtual dance crew made up of real-life friends or with people from all over the world. Yes, I don’t have to grab my passport, I just have to play Just Dance 2015 on my Wii. I can even have a dance off challenge with other players. So fun and it all goes down in my own living room!
Not only do I have a blast getting my groove on, but I burn calories and relieve stress! Seriously. After a super long day, I can dance to a few songs and I feel some of that stress lift off my shoulders. It’s a triple benefit for me and it really is a great way to get the entire family on their feet for some exercise in disguise. The new songs and wacky choreography encourage kids, teens and adults to let loose and be themselves. I like being goofy sometimes, don’t you?!
Wondering about the tracklist? They have a fresh tracklist of more than 40 of the hottest hits and throwback tunes, there’s something for everyone! Players can dance along to songs like “Problem” by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea and “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, or classic favorites like “Walk This Way” by Run DMC & Aerosmith. After just a few songs, I’m already sweating off some calories. When I first played the game, I was able to catch on to the dance routines fairly quickly, too.
Mobile app integration
There are so many fun ways to play Just Dance 2015. They have an option to connect a mic to the game and you can enter into Karaoke mode, so that you can sing along as you dance. What a fun way to liven up a party or an after hours meeting, right? Xbox One and Playstation 4 players can play without owning a Kinect for Xbox One, PlayStation Camera, or PlayStation Move Motion Controller. Just use your smartphone to track and score your dance moves. The app is free and available for download on all Apple iOS 6+ and Android 4+ smartphones. You can have up to four players to join in on PlayStation 4 and six players to join in on Xbox One.
Another cool feature includes an all-new Community Remix where you can become a Just Dance coach and players everywhere can dance along. Using the camera on your console, you can record yourself dancing to a song and share in the game. The community then votes on their favorites and the development team creates playable remixed gameplay featuring 15–30 players per song. I love that integration!

If all the cool features aren’t enough for you then you should know the maker of Just Dance 2015, Ubisoft, have partnered with Stomp Out Bullying to bring awareness to National Bullying Prevention Month. They want to show people everywhere that “it’s okay to dance to your own beat!” I love a brand that supports its community. *Thumbs up*
