Youtube has implemented a new desktop version and mobile app version of their website, including a brand new logo!

This update was first announced and released to a few users exclusively. Now, YouTube has finally rolled it out to everyone. In this post, I’d like to highlight some changes that will enhance your viewing experience.

They have designed it to be faster, cleaner and have the content appear more emphasized on their site. When you go on their site, you will immediately notice that a lot of the clutter that used to be there is gone. They’ve eliminated random ads and graphics that had YouTube appear very busy. I hadn’t noticed this before but now with the update, it looks much cleaner and easier to navigate.

YouTube has a ‘dark theme’ feature that is said to “cut down on glare and take in the true colors of the videos you watch. Usually, this dark theme is best used when watching videos in low-light situations.

The mobile app has also changed a bit. Instead of bold colors, they’ve replaced the red banner on top with a white banner. The navigation tabs now have easier access, remaining stagnant on the bottom of the screen.

DID YOU KNOW: While watching a video, you can tap on the left or right side of the screen to navigate through the video?  Well you can.

They have also implemented varying playback speeds on mobile so you can watch videos at the speed options that were already available on desktop.

Vertical Videos can now be uploaded and viewed on Youtube as its original format. This feature is amazing for creators who already have great video content that was formatted for vertical and now they do not have to worry about changing any formats.

All of these features only make YouTube much more user-friendly and bring a new experience for YouTube viewers. Check it out for yourself!
