#LatinaGeeks - Featured Geek, Dawn Galindo

We are very excited to share more about our friend Dawn Galindo. It’s a bilingual TV web show host of ¿Qué Pasión?.

Learn more about her here:

What is your full name and tell us about where you are from.

Dawn Page Galindo and I am half and half Gringa de nacimiento pero mexicana de corazón.

I grew up in Agua Prieta, Sonora a small town on the U.S.- México border adjacent to Douglas, Arizona where I lived my first eighteen years. I had a lovely childhood and many friends with whom my twin sister and I played every day. I was exposed to both cultures and two different worlds. When I graduated from Douglas High School I moved to Tucson, AZ to attend the University of Arizona and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with Marketing major and a minor in French in May 2000.

Tell us about your Latina background and your family. What does your family think about your geeky passions?

My mother is Mexican and my father is American. I grew up with my mother who still lives in Agua Prieta and my father in Yuma, AZ. I have an identical twin sister by the name of Julia Shawn Page -Hensen who is expecting her first baby Van Michael Hensen Page. I am excited to share I will be an aunt in November 5, 2014.

My family has been supportive of the risks I’ve taken to pursue my dreams and follow my passion for the entertainment/media industry. My father always reminds not to give up and that nothing is impossible. My mother understands my creativity and is aware Los Angeles is the mecca for entertainment. Having the privilege to meet and interview people from all walks of life is an enriching experience to discover and learn every day. I’ve dedicated 14+ years working in media as a reporter and news producer and with media as a publicist.

Tell us about your geeky passion. What are your interested in and why?

My geeky passion is ¿Qué Pasión? #QuePasion, a bilingual TV web show where I create content and present interviews with celebrities and public figures. My interest is to share interviewees’ passion and accomplishments to inspire audiences.
Back in July 2014 I attended NALIP MEDIA SUMMIT 2014 and pitched my project #QuePasion to MitúNetwork.

A month later I got a call with the news that it had been accepted to be part of MitúNetwork, Youtube’s largest Latino channel. Recently, I joined MituFama contest for the opportunity to win a TV pilot and $5,000.00. To vote select Dawn Page, host of Qué Pasion and click the pink button in my video.

Are you bilingual? If so, how does it help you in your career?

Yes, I am fully bilingual (Oral and written). As a journalist and news producer I am able to interview in and communicate to both English and Spanish speaking audiences.

In my current role as content creator, producer and host for ¿Qué Pasión?, I have the opportunity to interview artists and public figures about their passion, adversities and share news and success stories with bilingual speaking audiences on my social media platforms.

In my publicist role I am able to pitch reporters and producers in both languages and generate coverage in mainstream and Spanish media outlets.

Tell us about the gadgets you have in your purse right now. What top 3 gadgets do you need to have in your purse to help with your day-to-day tasks?

My Galaxy Samsung android phone to promote upcoming #QuePasion news on my social media platforms, a video camera, a voice recorder and a back up camera to take pics at events for my PR clients.

What is your website and/or blog? What does it focus on?

My website showcases on-air talent/production trajectory. My other website showcases my Marketing and PR capabilities and the services I can offer potential clients
