Overview/Description:

The Chapter Community Outreach Manager at #LatinaGeeks plays a vital role in building and expanding the community presence in the designated market. This position focuses on fostering collaborations with external organizations, promoting cross-promotional activities, and actively engaging with educational institutions and employee resource groups (ERGs). The Community Outreach Manager will be instrumental in raising awareness about the chapter, recruiting volunteers, and ensuring a vibrant and inclusive community.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Building:
    • Strategically develop and implement initiatives to expand the #LatinaGeeks community within the market.
    • Foster relationships with local organizations to enhance cross-promotion and community engagement.
  • Partnership Development:
    • Collaborate with external organizations for cross-promotional activities, offering incentives such as discounts and free passes to paid events in exchange.
    • Cultivate relationships with educational institutions and ERGs to increase awareness and participation in #LatinaGeeks initiatives.
  • Educational Outreach:
    • Conduct outreach to educational institutions to promote #LatinaGeeks and its mission.
  • Volunteer Recruitment:
    • Actively recruit volunteers for in-person chapter events, fostering a sense of community engagement and participation.
    • Work closely with the chapter team to ensure a cohesive and enthusiastic volunteer team.
    • Maintain an ongoing list of potential volunteers, keeping it updated and organized for efficient outreach.
  • Documentation:
    • Keep detailed spreadsheets to track and document all outreach activities.
    • Update the spreadsheet regularly with information on partnerships, collaborations, and communications with external organizations.
    • Create files and store any new partnership agreements in #LatinaGeeks SharePoint drive.
  • External Event Attendance:

    • Attend a minimum of one external event per quarter to represent #LatinaGeeks, build connections, and broaden community outreach.

    • Communicate insights and outcomes to the chapter team and Managing Director.

  • Communication and Promotion:
    • Effectively communicate #LatinaGeeks mission, initiatives and events to external organizations and community partners.
    • Utilize your social media channels and other avenues to promote the chapter’s activities and engage with the broader community.
    • Communicate with the Chapter team and Managing Director apprise them of any new partnerships.
    • Through our communication platform, Asana, provide the Marketing team with necessary information and assets such as logos, event links, etc. to promote community events through #LatinaGeeks’ channels.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Experience in community outreach, partnership development, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of local organizations, educational institutions, and ERGs.
  • Passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in the technology and innovation sectors.
