#LatinaGeeks is proud to partner with Microsoft, together we present an awesome opportunity for Latinas who want to learn about cloud computing.

Cloud Computing is the fastest growing niche within Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. There are more than 20,000 job openings currently on LinkedIn and we want to introduce an introductory hands-on workshop that could possibly change your life and future.

Uses of cloud computing:

You’re probably using cloud computing right now, even if you don’t realize it. If you use an online service to send an email, edit documents, watch movies or TV, listen to music, play games, or store pictures and other files, it’s likely that cloud computing is making it all possible behind the scenes. The first cloud computing services are barely a decade old, but already a variety of organizations—from tiny startups to global corporations, government agencies to non-profits—are embracing the technology for all sorts of reasons. Here are a few of the things you can do with the cloud:

  • Create new apps and services
  • Store, back up and recover data
  • Host websites and blogs
  • Stream audio and video
  • Deliver software on demand
  • Analyze data for patterns and make predictions

No experience required to attend the workshop, as this is an intro-level session.

Instructor: Sarah Guthals, Senior Program Manager at Microsoft

How to prepare:
• Bring your laptop and power cord
• Both PCs and Macs are OK, no tablets

In order to avoid class interruptions and stay on schedule, DOORS WILL CLOSE AT 10:30 a.m. exactly. Thank you for understanding.

By popular demand, we have added an additional hour for Networking after the workshop! Meet new friends who share the same geeky passion as you. Stay after the workshop to chat with the instructor and other attendees while enjoying mimosas and appetizers.

Quotes from previous class:

I loved it! As someone who didn’t even know what HTML, CSS, or JavaScript really even meant to begin with, this was an awesome intro to the subjects and got me more interested in coding!

I learned a lot. I would not have been able to tell you 2 days ago what the aforementioned terms were. Thank you for making me more knowledgeable!

I thought the event ran smoothly and was a big success. I told all my friends about it and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to learn another skill and open the door to possible new career paths. Thank you!!
