The advice we get as First-Gen Latinas is a walking contradiction. We’re raised to value discretion and observation, then thrown into a corporate culture that demands we perform ‘loud leadership’ just to be seen. If you’re an introvert, you’ve likely been told that your quiet nature hinders leadership. But it is, in fact, your greatest asset. In this workshop, we’re redefining what it means to “own the room.”

Yvonne will share insights and practices on how to stop fighting your introversion and start using it, combined with cultura, to build a speaking strategy a tu manera. You’ll learn to leverage your cultural perspective and your “quiet” nature to hold the room without needing a three-hour nap afterward (I know, it feels impossible, but it totally is!).

This is a practice-heavy Poderosa Hour where you’ll draft and deliver a 2-minute share, designed for your natural voice. Just you, your story, and your strategy. By the way, you can decide to share with the group, engage deeply on your own, or pick 1 person in the group to practice it out loud with. It’s up to you!

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify Your Introvert Type: Beyond just being “quiet,” we’ll break down the different types of introversion to fully understand the introverted experience.
  2. Walk away with a toolkit of communication strategies, from high-stakes meetings to networking, that protect your energy instead of draining it.
  3. Practice a concise, natural way to introduce yourself and your work that feels like you.
