Digital Community Manager (Mighty Networks)
Overview/Description:
The Digital Community Manager for #LatinaGeeks supports the overall engagement and visibility of our organization-wide programs on Mighty Networks. This volunteer focuses on posting consistent content tied to #LatinaGeeks initiatives while also amplifying what chapter leaders post to create a cohesive and active member experience. This role helps foster a vibrant digital community by sparking conversation, highlighting resources, and elevating member voices across our growing base.
Responsibilities:
- Program Content (Cohorts, WITF, Workshops, Bootcamps, Poderosa Hour)
- Post weekly updates, prompts, and resources tied to #LatinaGeeks programs (e.g., cohort sessions, learning series, entrepreneurship content, WITF announcements).
- Share program milestones, deadlines, speaker highlights, and participant spotlights.
- Coordinate content cadence with the Managing Director to align with program timelines.
Weekly Ritual Posts & Conversation Starters
- Create weekly ritual posts (e.g., Monday motivators, midweek wins, Friday tips) to establish predictable, community-building touchpoints.
- Launch simple, high-engagement prompts that encourage members to contribute regularly.
- Keep themes aligned with current events, program cycles, and community interests.
“Ask a Geek” Engagement Threads
- Host recurring “Ask a Geek” threads where members can ask questions about careers, tech tools, entrepreneurship, or personal development.
- Encourage peer-to-peer support by spotlighting helpful member responses.
- Surface unanswered questions to staff or volunteers who can respond.
Event Visibility (Organization-Wide + Chapter Amplification)
- Promote upcoming #LatinaGeeks-run events inside Mighty Networks, including virtual sessions and large in-person programs like WITF.
- Amplify chapter-led posts by resharing, commenting, and boosting visibility—without duplicating chapter responsibilities.
- Share follow-up posts after events, including highlights, photos, takeaways, resource links, and shoutouts.
Community Engagement
- Welcome new members and help them navigate the community and upcoming programs.
- Respond to comments, encourage dialogue, and connect members to relevant opportunities.
- Spark discussion by posting polls, member spotlights, or helpful resources.
Job Board Promotion
- Regularly post open job opportunities from the #LatinaGeeks Job Board to keep members aware of current openings.
- Highlight roles aligned with early-career Latinas and those pivoting into tech or leadership.
- Encourage members to apply, share listings, or tag someone who may be a good fit.
Reporting & Insights
- Provide brief monthly engagement snapshots (popular topics, active members, successful posts).
- Offer recommendations to increase participation and enhance member experience.
- Track themes or interests emerging from member activity.
- Share insights from member engagement trends to support future programming.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Comfortable posting and engaging regularly on a digital community platform.
- Organized, collaborative, and able to maintain a consistent content rhythm.
- Passionate about uplifting Latinas in technology, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
- Familiarity with community engagement or social platforms is a plus.
