Fernanda Sulantay Vargas is a chemical engineer, PhD student at Yale University and winner of the prestigious NSF GRFP fellowship and GEM fellowship. She was born and raised in El Salvador and moved to the US at 19 years old. She is a social media content creator where she shares her life as a first generation student, immigrant, and mom of 2 and also shares useful tips for college students. She created the “empowered engineers” engineering challenge in 2021 to help engineering students who identify as female thrive in college and start their career getting over 800 participants.
