Samantha is natural born problem solver. She loves tackling problems head-on and providing exciting outcomes to those she is serving. Her passions for problem solving, technology, and knowledge sharing lead her to her current role as a Premier Field Engineer for Microsoft. She has been recognized as an industry expert in Application Lifecycle Management, DevOps and Azure Development. She is always looking for new ways to support others and grow in her learning. As of late she has begun taking on projects which focus on finding and reporting critical data insights around application development for some of the country’s top companies and organizations.
Samantha was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and is the oldest of 4 children. She graduated from Duke University in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Certificate in Information Science and Studies, and a Minor in Education. Through critically examining her experience as a Latina in technology during her undergraduate studies, Samantha became passionate about diversifying the tech industry. She conducted research around integrating key computer science and problem solving concepts into the core K-12 curriculum, served as a Summer Immersion Program Teacher for Girls Who Code, and continues to volunteer her time to speak to folks of all ages who are interested in technology.
In her pursuit of continuous learning and giving back to her community, Samantha found #LatinaGeeks. She is excited and honored to serve as the Los Angeles Chapter President and hopes to bring amazing experiences and opportunities to our members!
