September 2019 – There are more than 5 million Latino-owned businesses across the United States according to a report released by the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative—technology being one of those business categories.
Although there are millions of Latino-owned businesses, the lack of STEM representation is even more prevalent among Hispanics who as a whole have only earned 8 percent of degrees in STEM fields. Latinas hold a mere 2 percent of the computing workforce.

Tanya Salcido, #LatinaGeeks co-founder, sat down with Diversity in Action magazine to share her journey into STEM and how #LatinaGeeks is working towards the advancement of Latinas in STEM-focused roles and businesses.
